The jewel of Costa Blanca

The coastal jewel of Javea, surrounded by rocky headlands, is a very popular holiday destination for those who are attracted by its sandy beaches, promenade with bars, restaurants and shops, as well as its pretty old town, with remains of walls built to defend against pirates, as well as a 14th-century church.

Pleasant, relaxed and picturesque, Javea comes in three parts: the small old town 2km inland; El Puerto (the port), and the beach zone of El Arenal, a couple of kilometres south. First, go to the beach. The Arenal is the principal beach area with fine sands and crystal clear waters, very favoured resort for families. The beaches are safe and clean. The promenade running along the Arenal is lined with shops, bars and restaurants serving anything from seafood to traditional English, Mexican, Chinese or Italian cuisine.... As you get to the end of the Arenal, you will find wide choice of bars and restaurants with super views across the bay.

The Port gives another view of Javea's life. Afternoon, the fishing boats return to port to unload their catches which presented to the fish auction. Many town's restaurants specialise in seafood meals and rely on the local fishermen for their catches.

The old town has been widely renovated in the past few years to restore the historic centre to its former appearance. It is a labyrinth of narrow streets, ancient churches and townhouses with wrought-iron balconies full of colourful flowers.

Divers, walkers, hikers, golfers, cyclists and tennis players also have their place in Javea sports centres, caves, mountainous regions. The top world's tennis players David Ferrer was born in Javea and is an inspiration for many young sportsmen from the region.

Javea – Xabia in the Valencian language – is a gem of history and nature wonders on the northern Costa Blanca region.
